Development of the course

The programme follows a business economics approach, and illustrates the characteristics of the national healthcare system. It provides a conceptual framework, useful for increasing the managerial attitude in medical students.



Learning outcomes

The course aims to improve the knowledge of the participants, in terms of approaches and tools of organization and management of resources, for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency in the health care system.



Program

The course is divided into four parts.

Part one:

  • the analysis of the typical economic tools;
  • the characteristics of the national healthcare system;
  • the characteristics of some main international healthcare systems.

Second part:

  • what is a company;
  • the operating processes of the company (the measurement system of economic performance, the planning and control systems for the business performance evaluations).

Third part:

  • the organizational design of the healthcare professions;
  • models of organizational structure;
  • the quality of nursing services.

Fourth part:

  • the design of procedures for the professional coordination;
  • the management and development of staff;
  • the system of management and leadership.


Development of the examination

A written quantitative test and an oral qualitative test will be used to evaluate the students.
