Prerequisites

Knowledge of anatomy, radiologic anatomy , physics of radiation.

Development of the course

Description of standard and custom immobilization systems (thermoplastic head masks and neck and shoulders masks , vac-lock cushions or equivalent systems , Wing board and board breast , pelvic cushion , COMBIFIX , belly board or similars. Compliance’s  systems and help).
Description of procedures for immobilization of the main parts of the body : head and neck, brain , breast, lung, abdomen, pelvis (prostate, rectum , uterus ) , sarcomas and palliative .
Definition of laser system, centering  and treatment volume , concept of isocenter,  and set-up applied to immobilization , patient repositioning before TC (if deferred with respect to immobilization ) and treatment.
Description of the documents used in the process of immobilization , simulation and treatment.
Systems of Record & Verify , control of parameters and error set up,  delivery during immobilization , simulation and treatment. Support’s management .
Radiographic control methods during treatment .
Fixed systems of beam shaping with low melting alloy, bolus .

 

Learning outcomes

1 ) Knowledge of the devices and procedures of immobilization.
2 ) Knowledge of procedures to set-up and treatment , how to recognize problems .
