The course is based on conventional lessons regarding the classification of blood diseases and on their biologic, clinical and diagnostic characteristics. Some information will be given on basic concept of therapy
Knowledge of the basic principles of the most important blood diseases, regarding classification, ethiology, clinics, diagnostic and therapy. Another objective is the acquisition of the significance and importance of the most important haematological tests (haemogram, protein electrophoresis, etc )
: Physiopathology of normal haemopoiesis. Normal and pathological removal of erythrocites. Physiopathological classification and clinical aspects of anaemias. Aplastic, dyserythropoietic, haemolytic and anaemias caused by reduced haemoglobin synthesys. Iron turnover. Idiopathic myelofibrosis, chronic myeloid leukaemia, erythrocytosys and polycythemia vera, thrombocytosys and essential thrombocythemia. Myelodisplastic disesases. Acute leukaemias. Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. Monoclonal gammopathy: MGUS and multiple myeloma. Benign and malignant lymphomas. Phisiopathology of haemostasis. Congenital and acquired haemorragic diseases. Thrombocytopenias, Thrombophilic syndromes. Transfusion therapy. Principles of haemopoietic stem cells transplantation.
Multiple choice quiz and oral examination; 15 quiz for every section for a total of 60 quiz to be completed in 90’; minimal score to pass to the oral examination is 48 (1 point for the right answer, 0 for no reply and -0,25 for the incorrect one)
