Although no strict prerequisites are required, given the multidisciplinary nature of this course, it is advisable for the students to be familiar with the basic concepts of Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, applied and basic Biochemistry.
the aim of this course is to provide the proper scientific support and methodology to understand and execute routine analysis in a Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory, specific for a student of Biomedical Laboratory Techniques. Importantly, such knowledge will include the tools to understand the complexity of a biological sample treatment, possible source of errors and put in place proper countermeasures.

Spectrophotometric and colorimetric techniques for protein quantification. Centrifugation: basic principles and applications. Ultracentrifugation: basic principles and applications. Quali-quantitative evaluation of sieric proteins. Basics of clinical enzymology. Enzyme as diagnostic biomarkers.

Students will be provided references to web material or other sources to deepen the subjects illustrated over the course lessons.
