Learning outcomes

 The student has to be able to understand, through epidemiological methods, the community health needs in nursery field and the socio cultural factors from which they are influnced. This in order to schedule the requested services.

Further, he has to be able to define the features and methods of nursering, to project actions of health education & promotion/prevention in pediatric area oriented towards the complex relations during nursery assistance in the community.

Program

•        The concept of community and nursing in it.

•        The midwife and her service in the community: historical and legislative notes, professional competences and features.

•        The fields of the midwife service in the community:

        -              protection and promotion of maternal, sexual, reproductive and gender                                                         health

        -              responsible maternity and paternity protection (birth control, prevention of                                                        intentional pregnancy termination, sexological counselling, etc..)

        -              sexual deseases prevention

        -              prevention from tumours of women genital aera

        -              Cross-cultural midwifery

•      The Italian active organizations for promotion of maternal health:

        -              Family planning clinic

        -              The project "Aim: Maternity and Infant"

        -              Birth path

•      Methods and tools for community nursing:

      -              the "Precede - Proceed" model

      -              planning an action of health education

      -              Screening campaigns for prevention of women genital area tumours

      -              "6+1 Project" enacted by the Ministry of Health for the promotion of                                                                      perinatal and pediatric health

      -              the project "Mother's milk: a drop of wisdom, a great opportunity" and                                            further national campaigns for the breast-feeding promotion.
