Development of the course

The course provides the student information about pre/intra/post surgical management towards the patient that is subjected to the main surgeries with the nursing care planning .

Learning outcomes

The student is able to apply the planning process towards the patient that is subjected to various surgeries. He’s able to recognize and manage post – surgical complications.

Program

Peri- surgical  Care

• General assistance to the patient in the pre-surgical phase ( training,complications prevention,preparation for surgery,Informed Consent )
• Classification of surgeries ; patient care during surgery;sterile field; surgical unit,operators role and activities,Latex Free;
• Sterilization and Disinfection of medical supplies ;
• Assistance to general,regional and local anesthesia – treated patient;
• Care of cute pain in the pre – intra or post- operative period;
• Patient care in the post-surgical phase,risks and complications monitoring;
• How to calculate the water balance;
• Surgical wounds,medication and drainage;
• CVC management;

 

Gatroenterological Surgery

• Care planning of a surgery-treated in:

              Acute abdomen

             Gastrectomy

             Intestine ( with intestinal stoma )

             Liver and bile ducts

 

Thoracic Surgery and Ent:

• Care planning of treated patient in :

             pulmonary resection and management of chest drains

             laryngectomy

             thyroid

             breast

 

Urological  Surgery

- Care planning of treated patient in :

            cystectomy ( with urinary stoma )

            nephrectomy

            prostatectomy

 

Orthopedic Surgery

• Care planning of treated patient in :

              Split ( plaster casts)

               trans-skeletal traction

              hip arthroplasty

 

Cardiovascular Surgery

• Care planning of treated patient in:

           PTCA

          Coronary stent

          coronary artery bypass Surgery

Development of the examination
