Learning outcomes
  • to introduce the students at principal topics of sociology in health field;
  • to know the work contest in group in health organization;
  • to understand the different sense of disease in society;
  • to understand the communicative process between operator/operator and operator/patient;
  • to conduct relations with different kind of patient and care giver
  • to study and analyze the research data in medicine. 


Program

1) Introduction to sociology: sociology and society; social structure and social interaction; process of  socialization and social control; groups, organizations, institutions; roles, hierarchy, power; identity and role of  health workers.

2) The sociological approach to health/hospital system: communication and listening; counseling and users /health workers relationship; the meaning of illness and of  the patient; social illness and social context.

3) The health system and social security system: the evolution of SSN during different historical phases; the protection given by welfare policies; health and social inequalities. 

4) New frontiers in medicine and nursing: the main topics of bioethics; umanitas treatment,  medicine in literature, palliative care

5) Methodological elements in social research:  phases, research techniques and tools applied within the health system, knowledge and analysis of  the data and diffusion of the  results.
