Prerequisites
Basic knowledge in anatomy, microbiology, general pathology.

Development of the course

24 hours frontal teaching, divided in 8 lessons, 3 hours each.



Learning outcomes

Basic knowledge on Infectious Diseases, oriented to a correct nurse survey of possible complications.

Knowledge of protection measures for to avoid infections transmission to other Health Care Workers and to patients.

Biological samples collection: how, when and why.



Program

Infectious Diseases: principles, transmission patways and personal protection, health care associated infections, microbial antibiotic resistances.

Pneumonia.

Tuberculosis.

Infective exanthems: herpes, rubella, measles, erysipelas, scabies.

Central Nervous System Infections: meningitis, encephalitis, nevrassitis, cerebral abscesses.

Gut infections.

Sepsis, infective endocarditis. Blood culture.

HIV infection: acute, latent, overt AIDS, post-exposure prophylaxis.

Tropical Infections: malaria, dengue, typhoid fever, leishmaniosis.

Viral hepatitis: acute hepatitis from virus A, B, C, Delta, E. Chronic hepatitis.

Health care associated exposure to HIV, HBV, HCV: prophylaxis and survey.
