Development of the course
The course will focus on the management of cancer patients and on principles of medical oncology. During the course the main types of cancer will be described, with a special focus on the diagnosis, the therapy and the management of toxicities due to anti-cancer treatments.

Learning outcomes
: improve the knowledge of the principles of medical oncology, with a special focus on the interpretation of diagnosis, stadiation and response evaluation. Ability to understand the technical words. Comprehension and interpretation of the reports of the main laboratory and pathological exams. Improve the knowledge of the main types of cancer. How to communicate to cancer patients.

Program

principles of general oncology (tumour stadiation, adjuvant and neoadjuvant therapy, palliative care, response evaluation, chemotherapeutic drugs and management of toxicity). Targeted therapies. Tumour markers. Female tumours. Breast cancer. Screening and prevention. Gastro-intestinal cancer. Chest tumours. Communication skills. Cancer pain and supportive care.Trials. Hereditary tumours.
