Educational aims: general sociology and general psychology.

Learning outcomes

The course aims at introducing the main sociological theories on complex societies in order to describe the structural dynamics and the change processes influencing them; it is furthermore designed to explore the contribution of sociology as scientific discipline, including its own research procedure and the integration between theory and empirical inquiry.

Program

An introduction to the history of sociology; sociology as theory and research; industrial society, social changes, social stratification; society and mass communication; the socialization process; highlights on communication; highlights on social research methodology.

Development of the examination

Oral or Free-response test.
