Facoltà di Medicina e Chirurgia - Guida degli insegnamenti (Syllabus)
Basic knowledge of biochemistry, physics, physiology, biology and statistics.
The purpose of the course is to provide students with the fundamental concepts regarding microorganisms (viruses, bacteria and fungi) and their role as pathogens to humans; the professional competence in relation to disease prevention and health promotion, the basic knowledge of general pathology.
The course is based on lectures with slides presentation..
At the end of the course the student should know what the microorganisms are, the routes of transmission and the mechanisms of virulence of major human pathogens, the mechanisms of action and resistance of antimicrobial agents. Moreover, the student should gain knowledge about disease prevention and health promotion, the epidemiological basis of the analysis of phenomena, and health care services organization. the aetiology of human diseases, the biology and pathology of the immune system.
