• Introduction to anthropology as the study of man and of human cultures, in their joints and ethnic differences in their popular expressions, definitions and paradigms.
• Health as a multidimensional phenomenon and the relationship between health / disease.
• Pain, Symptoms and culture of pain: the cultural components and experience of suffering, pain and communication, medical practices and social practices, and culture of pain Symptom:
• Rites and symbols: the therapeutic rituals, funeral rites and the cultural meaning of death. The death and the concept of person / cultural unity of the dying and the hospital.
• The birth and death as border areas, anthropological perspectives practices and rituals.
• The early stages of the life cycle: pregnancy, labor / birth, postpartum, early care: knowledge and practices, rites of passage. Support networks, relationships with healthcare organization between past and present. Immigrant and native user user: a comparative approach and intercultural perspective.
Written examination, with oral optional.
